The fishing was good …

In Brittany , in the Gulf of Morbihan , holidays are an opportunity to have good fishing parties

In addition to oysters , mussels , clams , meadows , cockles and sea urchins caught by walking , to be tasted with country bread and salted butter ( Breton , of course ! What a question ! ) , the net fishing often gives us of swimming crabs , queen crabs and fish called old women !
But sometimes also sole , red mullet , bars , mullets , rays , and so on …

A fisherman never catch anything !
You always have to put a little seaweed on your basket , first of all it keeps the fishing cool , and above all to avoid to show to other fishermen what you have caught!
” Oh ! just an old women , but not big , and a little seaweed for the garden … ”
This is what you answer if you are asked if the fishing has been good !
The seaweed is a very good fertilizer for the garden , but you must let it take the rain first to desalt it …

Nice catch of the net in a place known only by me , as the fishermen have all their secret corners , and in addition it was a good day …
We can clearly see it with the lobster which makes friend-friend with the conger …

Generally , the hole where the conger lives overhangs that of his friend the lobster …
Laziness being the rule in the animal race , as with us , the lobster settles below the conger which eats dirtily and it thus receives for free the scraps of the food of the conger , and without efforts …

1 lobster , 1 crab , 3 queen crabs , 3 swimming crabs , 8 old women , 1 conger and some cockles and clams picked up on the shore …

The swimming crabs are mainly caught in the locker , but come into the nets to try to eat the fish caught there , and by doing so , cheerfully cut them up…

It swallowed an old woman caught in the net , and the net also , so it suddenly came to join us …
Generally , the conger is fished with a bottom-top , a weighted bottom line and marked on the surface thanks to a rope which joins a buoy
For bait , the half of a mackerel or a head of a cuttlefish or of a squid …
Frozen baits also work well …
There is only a small part of the conger’s belly that is eaten normally , but it looks like lobster flesh …
The rest is cooked in fish soup , a real wonder ! , but for a lot of work…

To give you an idea of their size compare them with respect to the width of the chair …

The beautiful queen crab …
The males have firmer flesh , they must be chosen very heavy …
Inside the female , at the season of the red flesh , it has a moved reserve , which is delicious …
The male can be recognized by its pointed tail , while the female has a rounded tail …

The lobster is surrounded by the queen crab and the crab , and we have added a sprig of false coral brought up with the net
It is false coral , because it whitens when drying

the queen crab is camouflaged under its seaweed hat

But then , it’s the chore of cleaning the net to rid it of all the algae …
Because a net loaded with algae no longer catches anything …
And if you want it will be every day a Sunday , you need a clean net
But it doesn’t always work every time…
